IELTS and TOEFL guidance


i) Diagnostic Assessment Students begin with a placement and diagnostic assessment to identify: • Current English proficiency level • Strengths and weaknesses in each test component • Recommended study plan and target score timeline This ensures preparation is personalised and goal-oriented.

ii) Structured Test Preparation Lessons Students receive guided coaching in:

Listening • Note-taking strategies • Identifying keywords and distractors • Understanding academic and conversational English

Reading • Skimming and scanning techniques • Time management for multiple passages • Answering True/False/Not Given and inference-based questions

Writing • Essay structure and argument development • Task response and coherence • Grammar, sentence variety, and academic tone

Speaking • Fluency and pronunciation • Confidence in interviews and spoken responses • Answer development and idea organisation


iii) Mock Tests & Score Review

Students complete timed mock exams under realistic conditions to:

  • Build familiarity with actual test pressure

  • Track score progression

  • Identify areas for final improvement before the exam

Detailed feedback and improvement strategies follow each mock test.


Structured HSK Preparatory


Core training areas include: Listening • Understanding spoken Mandarin in daily and academic contexts • Recognising keywords, tones, and sentence patterns • Improving listening accuracy under exam conditions

Reading • Vocabulary recognition • Sentence comprehension • Reading speed and interpretation of short and longer passages

Writing • Character recognition and sentence construction • Basic to intermediate written expression • Exam-specific written response practice

Vocabulary & Grammar • HSK word list mastery • Practical sentence structures • Grammar patterns commonly tested in the exam

Preparation is tailored according to the target level, typically from HSK 1 to HSK 5, depending on student needs.


i)                    Mock Tests & Exam Practice

Students will complete practice papers and timed mock tests to:

  • Become familiar with actual HSK exam format

  • Improve speed and confidence

  • Identify weak areas before sitting for the exam

Detailed review and feedback help students focus on the areas that will most improve their scores.
